Job Demands & Physical Demands Analysis

A Job Demands Analysis (JDA) systematically examines the cognitive, physical, and environmental requirements of a specific job. This evaluation helps employers, employees, and healthcare providers understand the essential functions and potential risks associated with a role, supporting workplace modifications, return-to-work planning, and injury prevention strategies.

A Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) specifically assesses the physical aspects of a job, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, and repetitive movements. The analysis provides detailed insights into ergonomic and physical challenges faced by workers, assisting employers in making informed decisions about accommodations, injury prevention, and worker safety.

These assessments are beneficial for employers throughout various industries, especially where roles involve manual labour, repetitive movements, prolonged standing, lifting, or other high physical demands. Employees recovering from injuries, surgeries, or medical conditions also benefit from having modified work recommendations available to them.
